H1N1

2009 H1N1 (referred to as “swine flu” early on) is a new influenza virus causing illness in humans. This new virus was first detected in people in the U.S. in April 2009. In June 2009 the World Health Organization signaled that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway. The level of pandemic signifies that this is a serious virus and that we all need to take precautions to protect ourselves from becoming ill. Prevention is the best way to protect yourself and your family members from becoming infected with the H1N1 virus.
